What's on?
A Free Health Information Seminar For Women
At The Playhouse Hotel, Barraba
The Jean Hailes Foundation for Womenʼs Health, a national organisation based in Victoria, is
offering live access to some of the countryʼs leading womenʼs health experts via an online “webinar”:
the speakers will be projected live on the big screen, via an online connection.
The evening, MAKING YOUR 40s FABULOUS, will be hosted by the Barraba Health Service.
Gynaecologist Dr Elizabeth Farrell, Sexual Health Physician Dr Rosie King and Dr John DʼArcy will provide
the latest evidence-based information on health issues facing women in their 40s.
“Many women going through the perimenopause, or time prior to menopause, feel as if they are on a
rollercoaster as they experience changes to their hormone levels, their periods and their emotions,” says Dr
Elizabeth Farrell. “They are not necessarily expecting these changes and sometimes wonder if their
experience is normal. Since this important time of their lives is unique for every woman, with greatly varying
symptoms, women need to be well-informed so they can enjoy their 40s and start to make plans for a healthy
future.”
Local organiser Allison Groth, Health Promotion Coodinator for Barraba Health Service says: “We encourage
everyone to come along to hear about the latest research from experts in the field and to be part of a fantastic
national event.”
Guest speaker local GP Dr Sanji Gunasekera will be on hand to answer questions in an open forum at the
end of the webcast. The Playhouse Hotel will provide a delicious supper. The evening is expected to end
around 9.30 pm
The Jean Hailes Foundation for Womenʼs Health is an independent, not-for-profit national organisation, caring for the
health and wellbeing of Australian women through education, research and clinical care.
