CAPERS 2011
CAPERS is a showcase of talented students from public schools across the New England Region. It involves 3,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who excel and are interested in instrumental, vocal, dance, drama, stage craft and visual arts. The opportunity to participate is available to ALL students. They have a rare opportunity to perform or assist with the production in a professional performance venue in a 3-hour production at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC). From CAPERS our students take their skills to similar events in Sydney. Since the beginnings of CAPERS, students from this region have been featured artists at such events. Past CAPERS performers are Ben Hazell, Roshani Priddis and Robert McDougall (just to name a few). All have the opportunity and potential to become professional performers in their chosen fields. CAPERS also has invited special guests, this year it is The Bushwackers. CAPERS has developed a high profile in the region and beyond and a reputation for excellence. It is a huge budget and logistical exercise and involves and enormous team of teachers, students and community members to achieve this standard. There is only two public performances! The dress rehearsals and matinee shows are for school students and staff only, and tickets are not available to these performances of the event.
