The Capitol Theatre
The centre occupies part of the top floor space and will bring a new multi-function arts world to Tamworth. It will be called the Capitol Theatre - as a mark of respect for the history of the land it sits on.
The brand new state of the art Performing Arts Centre, is another progressive initiative of the Tamworth Regional Council.
Located on the site of the old Capitol Theatre, the facility has been fitted out at the cost to Tamworth Regional Council of $1.6million. Tamworth Regional Council has entered a 15 year lease with the shopping centre management.
The theatre is fitted with a 405-seat auditorium with two levels of tiered seating and includes professional theatre lighting, full sound system, dressing rooms, orchestra pit, fly tower and is fully air conditioned. It is a multi-function space for live theatre and cinema productions. It is a significant addition to the existing cultural facilities in the region and will provide an ideal forum for live theatre including dance, drama, music, educational activities, conferences and community events.
The facility shares a fabulous airy light filled common area, which can be used for meal breaks and a variety of catering is available within the facility.
