CountryLink Explorer Trains depart daily from Sydney Central and stop at various stations along the way. The primary train station for Tamworth is located only minutes from the CBD. Relax with the rolling hills and the country plains of the north west of New South Wales.

Various coach companies service the Tamworth region departing from Sydney/Melbourne to Brisbane (Greyhound) and the Hunter Valley/Mid-North Coast (Keans) daily.

Located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway travelling through the region is a picturesque, scenic and great alternative to the Pacific Highway.

Commercial QantasLink flights depart several times daily from Sydney. In just over 45 minutes, or a coffee ride away, you’ll be touching down at Tamworth Airport and ready to seek out adventures in the region. Commercial and private aircraft use the airport.

Tamworth Airport

Tamworth Regional Airport is 9.4 kms west from Tamworth’s Central Business District at an altitude of 1,334 feet. The airport is in flat open country, with no hills closer than 11 kms. The airport’s main runway is laid out on a bearing of 120/300 degrees and is 2200 metres (7,218 feet) in length. The runway is grooved bitumen sealed. Its ICAO Pavement Classification Number is 35. It is capable of taking aircraft up to B737. The main runway is equipped with full lighting services to International standards and those are supported by standby power facilities. This runway is also equipped with T-VASIS (Visual Approach Slope Indicator System] equipment.

Tamworth and the region is serviced by a number of bus services and local coach companies providing reliable public transport, to get around town and access the outer region. Both operate regular pick-ups and drop-downs around the CBD and Tamworth each day (except Sunday).
