Meander away the day with a picnic at any of these luscious areas or capitalise on the beauty and make one of these outdoor settings your backdrop for a wedding, party, concert or anything… under the stars!
The sporting facilities in the Tamworth region are world class. Tamworth regularly hosts National and State based championships in hockey, BMX, softball, baseball, cricket and football codes. Tamworth also has a national standard track and field centre, a speedway, cycling velodrome, five lawn bowling clubs and two golf courses, one of which was designed by Greg Norman’s Design Company.
The quality of facilities combined with the enthusiasm of the sporting organisations and the local community has seen the Tamworth region produce a number of elite athletes that have gone on to represent Australia at Olympic and Commonwealth Games and other national and international level competition.
When you get out into the region you can really let loose in the dams and reserves. Take a dip in Lake Keepit State Park, Split Rock Dam and Chaffey Dam; all of which are great for boating activities from skiing to sailing to canoeing. The region is also well known for its inland fishing, where you can throw a line in at any of the dams or rivers found on your travels and don’t forget to take a dip in the cool water yourself!
If you don’t want to catch your next meal, pack a picnic lunch or if you feel like staying a while longer, camp overnight. There is also a range of National parks ready for you to explore.
At night the region comes alive with pubs and registered clubs you’ll find ‘just the right place’ to stop and relax have a refreshing ale, or dance the night away. Tamworth has family friendly venues, contemporary clubs and party pubs, all with the perfect mix of country smiles and friendly faces welcoming you. At many venues, you’ll find an array of home grown talent performing just for you. Getting to any venue is easy, most are just a short walk or you can hail a cab and let someone else do the driving for you. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere, with a drink in a beer garden, relax in the sun (or by the fire in Winter)…
